For The Future

The grassroots breeding program focuses on returning foundation to the sport horses of the future.  Here, we are not worried about what "warmblood registry" the horse comes from but more importantly about the athleticism and structure that your equine partner displays as you participate in your discipline of choice.

Sadly, we have seen over the past ten years an increasing trend of sport horses "breaking down" due to leg structure loss. We have seen it in The Derby, The Rolex and various other  major equine sporting events.  This is a worrisome issue in which we have decided to address as our primary focus at Sonoran Mist Sport Horse Farm. The goal at Sonoran Mist Horse Farm is not just to breed, but to selectively create the next generation of performance horses that have size, substance, athleticism and intelligence which all equine performance sports demand.

We also believe in the importance of knowing where your equine partner comes from. There is a new movement of "draft crosses" coming from various breeding farms around the nation where the breeding and bloodlines are questionable.  There is no real way to verify breeding or inbreeding when purchasing a horse from these farms. As a result, we offer horses with proven backgrounds and bloodlines where it is a known fact of past history and credibility combined with performance and structure that ensures a positive and long future.
